St. Louis, MO- October 2020 – Over the years, the staff at INSynergy have heard a similar refrain from their patients. Despite having tried multiple inpatient, out-of-town addiction care clinics, INSynergy’s personalized approach to outpatient treatment finally freed them from the yoke of alcohol and drug addiction.

“It is just so empowering,” said Tom, who turned to INSynergy when his social drinking became life-destroying. “It’s not a matter of weakness, it’s a matter of trying to figure out what’s the root cause of your issue.”

Tom’s case is a perfect illustration of what makes INSynergy’s program so successful. INSynergy’s personalized, medically-based approach revealed that Tom was suffering from an undiagnosed Attention Deficit Disorder. Once he was prescribed medication for his ADHD, he was able to concentrate on successfully beating his addiction.

“It’s a very comprehensive approach,” said Ashley Halker, INSynergy’s Director of Operations. “Treating a patient’s addiction as a primary diagnosis, but also making sure we understand that it is a symptom of something else.”

“We try to find what’s really going on with their whole life,” said Arturo Taca, M.D., INSynergy’s founder and Medical Director “Not only do we use principles in addiction medicine, but we take psychiatry, we take neurology, we take pain medicine, we take sleep medicine, we take all these great principles from other fields and combine them and we get a better result.”

INSynergy also brings families into the process to help patients achieve long-term sobriety.

INSynergy’s innovative approach to addiction care includes genetic screening to determine what medications might assist a patient maintain abstinence.  INSynergy has also pioneered the development and use of FDA-cleared neuromodulation devices designed to interfere with the pain signals associated with opioid withdrawal, setting patients up for successful post-detox care.

Some patients achieve success through INSynergy’s Vivitrol® clinic, a once-a-month injection which also temporarily blocks opioid and alcohol cravings.

“We like to take pride in being the first people locally to implement the new discoveries in the field of addiction medicine,” Dr. Taca said.

All INSynergy programs are done on an outpatient basis, typically lasting three to six months.

“We invest in our patients, just like they are investing in us,” Halker said.“They are not just surviving, but they’re thriving.”
