Katie Pesha, Owner & President

Cottleville Missouri, May 2021KP Consulting Group is a robust network of Catholic marketers and strategists brought together by Katie Pesha, former Executive Director of Communications and Planning for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

“We tailor marketing and communication strategies to help Catholic organizations achieve transformative evangelization, discipleship and stewardship solutions,” Pesha said. “We provide a comprehensive suite of integrated marketing solutions for your parish, school or ministry.”

Pesha formed her company in 2016, when she left her position with the Archdiocese of St. Louis to focus on her growing family.

“It has really been a great opportunity to be able to still serve the Church in a way that allows me to have a little bit more freedom in my schedule,” Pesha said.

KP Consulting Group is unique in that faith is the foundation of the firm and the focus of their client work.

“We work from a mission of co-responsibility for the Church’s future,” Pesha said. “Using our gifts and talents to creatively and effectively serve generations yet to come in the spirit of stewardship.”

“We find ourselves to be unique by the makeup of our internal structure,” Pesha said. “We have a large consortium of Catholic communications and marketing stewardship experts.”

“We have individuals who have worked in the field and have come from various backgrounds of Catholic communications, so we are very selective about who we pull into our network to assist our clients,” Pesha said. “Our deep understanding of the Catholic communications and marketing landscape positions us to be of service to the Church in the modern world.”

While faith drives the work, the approach to the work is consistent with the best practices of the communications and marketing industry.

“It is difficult to think about the Catholic atmosphere or the Catholic parish as a brand or doing marketing in that realm, but it is truly that,” Pesha said. “It is a matter of how people are perceiving your organization - that is your brand.”

KP Consulting Group’s customers run the gambit of Catholic organizations – from parishes, Catholic schools, Catholic Foundations, Shrines and national ministry organizations. The group has also worked with religious orders, diocesan ministries and Catholic mission-driven non-profits.

“A lot of our current collaborations are renewing into ongoing relationships,” Pesha said. “Our business is rooted in providing a boutique-style service that is personalized to the needs of each particular client.”

Their work typically starts with developing a strategy that defines the brand and messaging of the organization.

“We start by helping them define that for themselves,” Pesha said. “And to draw out their own charism and their own language around their own unique ministry.”

“While we are all working towards a similar mission as Church, everybody has their own role in that,” Pesha said. “We are helping our clients define that language. From there, we help them map out their communications tactics.”

“We try to help organizations be proactive in approaching their marketing and not be reactive with one-off tactics,” Pesha said. “We ensure that everything is rooted in a strategy.”

After the strategy is defined, KP Consulting Group helps their clients with the execution of an integrated plan with creative campaigns that may be tied to the liturgical calendar or other milestones unique to the client.

“We try to help them personalize their approach,” Pesha said. “We look at all the channels and resources available.”

“We map out a plan that is going to work for our clients across the board,” Pesha said. “It isn’t just social media, or only putting something in the parish bulletin or e-newsletter. We identify the most integrated, holistic approach to sharing their message.”

“We will help them put all of that together with creative, consistent language and identify the best channels for distribution,” Pesha said. “The skills and background of our consortium of experts help carry forward an effective plan and assess its impact.”

“Even those helping with the execution of the work – running the social media, preparing videos or doing the graphic design work - all come from various backgrounds of Catholic communications,” Pesha said.  “It has been really neat to see how it has worked.”

“The Holy Spirit is guiding this work,” Pesha said. “I’m just trying to get out of the way and let Him do His work.”
